Victoria, british columbia

About Victoria

Victoria is a beautiful city on Vancouver Island and the capital of the province of British Columbia. It is rich in culture, history, and natural beauty and attracts many visitors yearly. The city offers a clean environment, seaside communities, lovely gardens, and great restaurants and vineyards. It has been named on Condé Nast Traveller’s lists as the best small city in the world for two consecutive years (2023-2024).

Weather

Victoria's delightful, temperate climate makes it an ideal destination for year-round adventures. Summers are warm but not hot, with temperatures typically ranging from 60°F-70°F (18–22°C). This charming city has earned recognition as the ultimate “Coolcation” spot for travellers in USA Today.

July is the hottest month of summer. January usually is the coldest month, with temperatures varying from 37° to 55°F (3°-10°).

Victoria is occasionally covered with snow, but usually, the weather is mild and rainy instead of cold and snowy.

How to get to Victoria?

Many visitors come from Vancouver for a day trip. In that case, people can take the 90 minute BC Ferry across the Strait of Georgia. Sail is between Tsawwassen, south of Vancouver, to Swartz Terminal Victoria. The ocean views are relaxing and keep your camera ready, as whales, frequent this route, particularly in the spring and summer.

Other options are also available: Harbour Air seaplanes that land in Victoria's inner harbour. And HeliJet, a helicopter that land very close to town. Travel time by air from Vancouver,  is around 35-40 minutes, and you get a great experience from the air.

At EV Tours,  we pick you up at your port of entry at any time. We also meet our guests in Victoria or vicinity, at any hotel or Bed and Breakfast.

Inner Harbour and unique places to visit

The city’s Inner Harbour is a central point where visitors can see sail boats and yachts,  flower baskets, and busy streets filled with cafes, restaurants, and shops. The historic legislative buildings and the Fairmont Empress Hotel are surrounded with beautiful lawns full of flowers.

The Empress Hotel overlooking the Inner Harbour, offers wonderful afternoon tea, unique shops and restaurant. Just a short drive away, the Oak Bay Beach Hotel  and Spa, blends elegance and relaxation with stunning ocean and islets views, a year round warm pool overlooking the Salish Sea.

Fifty minutes north of Victoria, are The Butchart Gardens,  world-renowned collection of stunning gardens with trails to explore and see different flowers every season. Christmas features amazing holiday displays and Lights. Spring is a time of exceptional blooms, like cherry blossoms, tulips, and rhododendrons. You can stroll  and enjoy these gardens year round.

At EV Tours, we provide private tours to many places in the city, up the Saanich Peninsula, up island, and to the forests and coastline.
